Athena Strand, the victim, is believed to have been kidnapped by FedEx driver Tanner Lynn Horner, 31, when he was making a delivery in front of Athena’s home, according to Wise County Sheriff Lane Akin. Authorities thought she was probably murdered an hour or less after she vanished.
The suspect has been taken into custody and lodged in the Wise County Jail. He is accused of aggravated abduction and capital murder. He was the one who revealed the location of Athena’s body to the authorities after being questioned.
The manner and location of Athena’s death are still unknown. A spokesperson with FedEx made the following announcement:

Despite having exclusive custody of her daughter, she permitted her to visit her in Texas in the autumn so she could spend time with her father and stepmother.
On Wednesday at 4:15 p.m. local time, Athena Strand was last seen alive stepping off of her school bus. She was reported missing to the Wise County Sheriff’s Office at 6:40 p.m. after the victim’s stepmother had spent an hour trying to find her without success.
The victim went away after the stepmother and the kid “had a little bit of an argument,” according to the sheriff, which was not unusual. As she frequently does, Athena became furious and walked away, but her stepmother claimed that she thought she would come back.
At the time of her death, she was just 7 years old.
