Ashley Tolbert is one of the players in the popular ongoing Netflix reality TV show series, Squid Games: The Challenge. She was born on July 7, 1992, in Lithia Springs, just outside Atlanta, Georgia. Ashley is more popularly known as Player 278, her number on the reality show/game, and has gained popularity amongst fans and viewers due to her unexpected behaviours and decisions.
Ashley currently has a number of the show’s fans and viewers divided, as some label her as ruthless while others consider her as determined. Unsurprisingly, Ashley, like the other 456 contestants, has her sights fixed on the whopping $4.56 million cash prize and is ready to win the competition by any means.

Education
Prior to starting out her professional career, Ashley Tolbert attended North Atlanta High School from 2006 to 2010. She then attended Smith College, where she graduated in 2014 with a degree in political science and government. Notably, Ashley played track and field at Smith University. Following her graduation, Ashley obtained a Masters degree in Public Health (MPH).
Profession and career
Ashley Tolbert currently works as a HIPPA and civil rights investigator for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) office. The office is based in Atlanta, Georgia. In the past, Ashley briefly went on to serve as an ESL teacher, based in Shanghai, China, and knows how to speak Chinese.
She has also spent several years working as a research assistant and spending time at Emory University as well as at the Morehouse School of Medicine. Besides her professional career, Ashley is also into bodybuilding and took part in the Cydney Gillon Peach Classic, an NPC bodybuilding competition, back in May 2022.
Marriage and children
Although the exact details of her marriage are unknown, sources state that she is a single mother to a boy. Her son is estimated to be about 4 years old.

Ashley is player 278 on the Squid Games: The Challenge show, and she has gained quite a reputation amongst viewers. Audiences have in the past accused her of not being a team player, while others have justified her actions by stating the cutthroat nature of the show. Ashley also gained a lot of resentment from fans after she led a popular contestant, Player 301 Trey Plutnicki, to his elimination. Moreover, she has an ongoing feud with fellow contestant Player 287 Mai, which has continued to develop over successive episodes.
In episode 8 of the show, the last twelve remaining contestants had to clear a challenge that involved rolling a dice. According to the rules of the challenge, each contestant had to nominate another player for elimination before rolling. Once a contestant nominates a player and rolls the dice, the player gets nominated if the contestant yields a six.
As the challenge was played out, all the players agreed to nominate their own names before rolling the dice. However, Mai nominated Ashley but failed to roll a six. As such, Ashely did the same by nominating Mai for elimination during her turn. However, she failed to roll a six, and Mai avoided getting eliminated.
