The 58-year-old actor cum comedian had received widespread recognition after he appeared in the first season of The Great Indian Laughter Challenge in 2005.

Raju was born to a middle-class family I’m Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. His father, Ramesh Chandra Srivastava was a poet and was known as Balai Kaka.
On July 1, 1993, Raju tied the knot with Shikha from Lucknow. The couple had 2 children, Antara and Ayushman.

Raju’s daughter Antara isn’t a stand-up comedian like her father but she is a part of the film and television industry.
Antara Srivastava is a director by profession and has assisted in many films such as Fullu, Paltan, The Job, Pataakha.
Apart from being a director, she has even worked as a producer in short films such as Speed Dial starring Shreyas Talpade, Love Birds with Adhyanan Suman in the lead role.
She is even a recipient of the National Gallantry Award. Antara received the National award when she was just 12 year old.
She received the award for showing exemplary courage in the face of adversity. It happened when a few armed thieves broke into their home, while the 12-year-old was alone with her mother.
Antara not only managed to sneak into the bedroom, she even called her father and police to report the incident. Simultaneously, she shouted through her bedroom window to call out the neighborhood.
For which she was awarded the National Bravery Award in 2006 for showing courage from the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Speaking of Antara’s father, Raju was admitted to Delhi’s AIIMS hospital on August 10 after he suffered a heart attack.
The comedian was experiencing chest pain. He collapsed while working out at the gym. Immediately his trainer rushed him to the hospital, where he underwent an angioplasty the same day.
Following the angioplasty, the comedian stayed on the ventilator for several weeks and finally he passed away on September 21.
