Smita Prakash is an Indian journalist who born in an Indian family on December 2, 1981, in New Delhi, India. She is currently 42 years old, and she is the daughter of Inna Rammohan Rao, who is the former director of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
Her mother tongue is Tulu but also Kannada and she is a Kannadiga.
Education
Smita obtained her education in journalism and mass communication from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication.
Marriage
Smita Prakash married her husband Sanjiv in 1988. Sanjiv is the son of ANI (Asian News International) founder Prem Prakash and the current CEO of ANI.
Ishaan Prakash, Smita’s son expanded ANI’s overseas bureaus and enlisted into contracts with multiple state governments and union ministries.
Smita Prakash career
After completing her studies, Smita started out her career in journalism and has since worked for over two decades. Throughout the years, Smita worked as a correspondent for NPR News America, NHK Japan, and other international broadcasters, covering Indian-region news. Smita has also reported on elections, political developments, disasters, and various international events. During her time with them, she covered elections, natural disasters, international and political events, and other startling news.
Prakash has also anchored many news and current affairs programs, including “Rotating Mirror” on Zee TV and ‘Newsmakers’ on Doordarshan. Notably, Smita Prakash broadcasted “This Week in India,” which is the longest-running show on television in South Africa. Aside from Modi, Smita has previously interviewed many of the world’s top leaders throughout her career.
She currently works as an editor and news reporter for the ANI (Asian News International) News Channel after joining as a trainee in 1986. She also leads a podcast for ANI on YouTube, where she interviews different famous personalities.
