Jack Doohan is an Australian racing driver who was born on January 20, 2003, in Gold Coast, Australia. He was born to Mick Doohan and Selina Sines, and he is currently the reserve driver for Alpine F1 team. The young driver most recently competed in the 2023 FIA Formula 2 Championship for Invicta Virtuosi Racing, and managed to finish the season in third place. Alpine F1 are currently in a transition phase, with their main driver set to exit by the end of the season. As a result, Jack is expected to step in for the role.

Career

Jack Doohan’s father, Mick Doohan, was a legendary figure in Grand Prix motorcycle racing. He was a five-time world championship winner in the 500cc class. As a result, he initially tried out motorcycle racing but suffered an injury while racing. After receiving a go-kart as a gift from legendary F1 driver Michael Schumacher, he developed an interest in car racing.

Over the years, Jack Doohan has developed a strong track record in junior categories. He had a series of impressive performances in F3 and F2, finishing P2 and P3 in 2021 and 2023, respectively.  He eventually found himself in the realm of professional racing and he was a former member of the Red Bull Junior Team. Jack then joined the Alpine F1 team as their reserve driver in 2023.

Although the youngster has yet to make his Formula 1 debut, he has participated in several free practice sessions. He has continued to be a crucial member of the team and played a crucial role in addressing the A524’s setup issues ahead of the recent Monaco GP.
