Video of teenagers assaulting strangers goes viral
Just recently, video footage showing two teenagers sucker punching strangers as a part of a prank video has been going viral across social media. The video posted on social media eventually made its way onto a neighborhood watch app called Nextdoor. As a result, law enforcement officials managed to track the teenager. In the video, viewers can see a 19-year-old resident of Harris County, Texas, named Alford Lewis sucker-punching unsuspecting strangers who were walking along a trail. The video has unsurprisingly sparked outrage amongst citizens, who demanded officials arrest the suspect.
Victims speak out against Alford Lewis
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, one of the victims from the video reported about the incident. The victim stated that he was walking along the trails when a man, now identified as Alford Lewis, approached him from behind and proceeded to punch him in the face for no reason. The victim also adds that a second man was filming the incident on his phone.
Upon confronting Lewis about the video, both Lewis and the person recording, who was allegedly Kingston Miker, continued to laugh. Moreover, the victim stated how he felt that Alford was carrying a gun underneath his red hoodie. The victim reportedly “forgave him,” following which the two teenagers ran away from the scene. Meanwhile, in a separate incident involving the two teenagers again, Alford Lewis allegedly used a gun to threaten a victim into giving up his iPhone 14. Upon refusal, Lewis physically assaulted him and tried to rob him of this phone, valued at $1000.
Alford Lewis states that it was just a prank
Once the video went viral, cops eventually located the teen and confronted him outside his home. Lewis then admitted to randomly punching strangers in parks as a way of gaining attention on social media. He added that his parents were disappointed at his actions and pleaded:
You know, I just made a mistake and everybody makes mistakes….”
Despite admitting to committing the actions, he added that it was all just a prank and he had no intentions of hurting anybody. Lewis stated that he was simply hanging out with his friend, and they were trying to make a TikTok video. He added that none of the victims actually fought back and that the video highlights showed only the “bad part”. He stated:
What people don’t see is that I shook his hand after and gave the man a hug.”
Alford Lewis faces multiple charges
At his court appearance on Monday, the judge set a bond of $10,000 for both charges against Alford Lewis despite the prosecutor demanding that the judge set it at $75,000 for one charge. The judge, however, also ordered that Alford Lewis will wear an ankle monitor. According to official court documents, Alford Lewis faces charges of bodily injury and aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon. It also states that the charges stem from two separate incidents. Meanwhile, Kingston Miker, faces the same charges, despite claiming that he was not the one recording, but simply the one who posted the video because he had a larger following.
