Let’s Get Physical narrates the story of a fitness instructor named Sadie, who by day, taught fitness and dance to soccer mom’s, but by night, she led a double life running a sophisticated prostitution ring with the customers lost that includes very prominent name of the community.

After receiving an anonymous tip, the authorities raided her studio leading to Sadie’s indictment and igniting a firestorm in the small town while leading everyone to ask who exactly was on the client list.

Though Lifetime hasn’t revealed the inspiration behind the film, it’s widely believed that the movie is loosely based on a story of Alexis Wright.

Alexis, who was a Zumba instructor based out of Kennebunk, Maine, had shocked the world by amassing a whopping $150,000 from her illegal prostitution ring.

Here’s all the details that you might need to know about Alexis Wright and her story that inspired the network’s latest offering.

As per a report by Vanity Fair, Wright is a resident of Maine. She had graduated from Topsham’s Mt Ararat High School in 2001.

In May 2005, she welcomed a son. Soon after having her baby, Alexis split up with the father of her child.

In 2010, she completed her graduation from the University of Southern Maine’s Lewiston-Auburn College. Later, she decided to open a Zumba studio called Pura Vida.

She opened the studio in a small, quaint town called Kennebunk, which is known for being the Bush family home compound. Later, in 2012 she tied the knot with her boyfriend Jason Trowbridge.

To run her Zumba studio, she rented a 2,500-square-foot space in a small strip mall located between a pizzeria and a nail salon. Moreover, she also rented another space for her second business, a message service business called Sensual Body Work by Lydia.

Wright claims that her second business would help her earn some extra income. The residents of the town recount Alexis advertising her message business in skimpy lingerie.

As per reports, even though Wright was seemed to be busy running her dance studio in the day, she was also running secret prostitution business from her two rental offices.

Her secret business drew tons of clients from all over Kennebunk. Soon enough, the town’s residents started noticing strange things such as customers popping up at the business at odd hours.

Many people even complained of hearing moans and groans from her studios. When one of her rental office’s owners looked her up online, he was stunned to find out that Alexis was filming porn content from the rental space.

The incident led him to reach out to the police. On Valentine’s day of 2012, the investigators searched Alexis’ home and office. The cops were stunned when they realized just how meticulously Alexis maintained her record of business.

She had penned down the names and detailed of sexual favors of all of her clients alongside what she performed on them and how much she charged them for it.

Without the knowledge of her clients, she had videotaped the act. The investigators estimated that she had earned somewhat around $150,000 for her services in over a year and half.

During an investigation, the cops discovered that she had an accomplice, a 57-year-old insurance salesman and a private investigator, Mark Strong.

In March 2013, Alexis Wright was convicted under the charges of 14 counts of engaging in prostitution, one count of promotion of prostitution and 2 counts of theft by deception and state income tax evasion.

Later, she was sentenced to 10 months in jail. In addition to it, she was ordered to pay $57,000 in restitution and $1,000 in fines.

During her sentencing, she told the court that she had been manipulated by her business partner, Strong, for whom she took video of her clients.

Following that, Strong was convicted under the charges of 12 counts of promotion of prostitution and one count of conspiracy to promote prostitution. He was sentenced to 20 days in prison.

Alexis was released from the prison in early November 2013 after serving 6 months of her 10 months sentence on account of good behavior.

After being released from prison, Alex goes by the name of Alexis Sandra Trowbridge. As of now, her current whereabouts are unknown.

This scandal has drawn much media attention. Now the network Lifetime is offering us a series however it isn’t the first time that her story made it to television.

Previously, TLC released a documentary detailing out her story back in 2013 titled ‘Sex, Lies & Zumba’.

‘Let’s Get Physical’ premiered on Saturday, October 15 at around 8/7c on Lifetime.
