The foundation of this collaboration was Mastromatteo’s well-known track record of changing players’ nutrition plans; he most notably collaborated with former Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema. Relevo, a Spanish news source, states that Bellingham and Mastromatteo have amicably chosen to split ways, absolving the chef of his duties.
Alberto Mastromatteo, whose firm Summumm manages the physical and emotional health of several great athletes worldwide, also counsels Bellingham’s colleague Eduardo Camavinga on nutrition.
In order to maximize results, Mastromatteo’s strategy usually entails a diet consisting of rice, oats, quinoa, fresh vegetables, fish, and lean meats. But he also believes in keeping players happy, so he sometimes adds comfort foods like tortillas or chips when it’s needed.
However, it became clear that Bellingham, his mother Denise, and Mastromatteo had different nutritional philosophies. The England star is greatly influenced by Denise, and Bellingham acknowledges that she was essential to his success. Bellingham acknowledged candidly, saying,
The role my mum is playing is massive.
He added,
I think at the minute it is probably the biggest role of anyone, even probably more than my coaches and managers, to be honest.
