The 22-year-old had been in ICU at Gokulam Medical College Hospital and is the daughter of Benny Mathew, a real estate businessman, and Philomina of Karuvelil House, Udayamperoor, in Ernakulam. A 2020 batch medical student, Adithi used to stay at the college hostel but a few months back she moved to a rented house.
In a separate and equally distressing incident, a 19-year-old first-year MBBS student, Harshal Mahale, met a tragic end in his hostel room at Dr NY Tasgaonkar Institute of Medical Sciences in Karjat, Raigad.
Harshal’s demise by hanging led to the registration of an FIR after his father, Manohar Mahale, filed a complaint. Harshal had recently enrolled in the MBBS program in October.
The note left by Harshal implicated three students, including his hostel room partner, in alleged harassment, leading to their booking for abetment to suicide.
As the police conduct a thorough investigation, the accused students remain unarrested.
The authorities are committed to unraveling the circumstances surrounding both incidents and ensuring a comprehensive inquiry into these unfortunate events.
In a recent development from Kerala, a tragic incident unfolded as Dr. Shahana, a medical professional, took her own life.
Dowry Demand Killed Doctor
The distressing event is believed to be linked to the alleged pressure exerted by her fiance, Dr. E A Ruwise, who insisted that she convince her family to meet the substantial dowry demands made by his father.
Initially, Shahana’s family expressed their intention to conduct a modest marriage within their financial means. However, Ruwise’s father insisted on a dowry that matched their considerable wealth.
When Ruwise eventually withdrew from the marriage, Shahana sent him a message expressing her unbearable pain and her intention to end her life.
Shockingly, Ruwise blocked her after receiving the message, and Shahana tragically took her own life by administering a fatal overdose of anesthetic drugs intravenously.
