The crash reportedly took place during a global goodwill tour when the ship lost power and collided with the base of the bridge.
Adal Jair Marcos killed in Brooklyn Bridge crash
Local Mexican media have reportedly confirmed that a Mexican Navy marine by the name of Adal Jair Marcos reportedly passed away in the tragic Brooklyn Bridge accident on Saturday. Marcos was one of the two cadets who died in the accident, involving the vessel Cuauhtémoc. According to reports, the vessel was reportedly carrying 277 people when it inadvertently lost mechanical power and scraped against the bottom of the bridge.
The violent impact killed two and left 22 injured, 11 of whom had critical injuries, according to the Mexican Navy. Authorities have since launched an investigation into the exact cause of the mechanical failure. Following the tragic incident, New York City Mayor Eric Adams and Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum both offered their condolences on X. Videos of the accident have also since started circulating on social media. The videos show the ship’s masts, lit and flying a massive Mexican flag, before eventually crashing into the bridge.

He was part of the Navy’s goodwill tour, meant to showcase international cooperation and naval excellence, when he passed away.
