The actress has been awarded the Best Actress “Un Certain Regard Prize.” She is the first Indian recipient of the prize, making history with her achievement.

The main character of the movie, which was written and directed by Bulgarian filmmaker Konstantin Bojanov, is Renuka (played by Anasuya), who kills a police officer and then escapes from a Delhi brothel. Omara Shetty plays Renuka’s romantic interest in the movie as well.
50-year-old Anasuya Sengupta was born in 1974. She is 5ft 6in tall. Her parents are writer, actress, and senior Indian administrative officer Abhijit Sengupta and actress Poile Sengupta. She was raised in Kolkata, West Bengal, India.
She graduated from Jadavpur University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature.
Anasuya met her husband, Yashdeep, in Goa. She revealed in an Instagram post that they met online.
Anasuya Sengupta career and family
Anasuya Sengupta entered the theatre after lending a supporting hand in Anjan Dutta’s 2009 film Madly Bangalee, and she moved to Mumbai in 2013. She changed careers and started working as a production designer in Mumbai.
As a production designer in Mumbai, she worked on Srijit Mukherji’s Forget Me Not, starring Ali Fazal as part of the Netflix anthology Ray (2021), and Sanjeev Sharma’s Saat Uchakkey (2016), starring the likes of Manoj Bajpayee and Anupam Kher.
The breakthrough for Anasuya occurred when she received an invitation to try for the film The Shameless from her Facebook friend, director Konstantin Bojanov. Konstantin wrote to her in June 2020.
In The Shameless, Anasuya Sengupta portrays Renuka, a prostitute who kills a police officer and then runs away from a brothel in Delhi. She finds safety with a group of prostitutes, where she meets Devika, a little child coerced into the profession.
Sengupta dedicated her victory to the LGBT community and other marginalised groups fighting for their rights while winning her award at the film gala.
