Travis Hunter bio
Travis is a young and upcoming college football player who was born on May 18, 2003, in West Palm Beach, Florida, USA. He is currently 21 years old and plays as a cornerback and wide receiver for the Colorado Buffaloes. After graduating from Collins Hill High School, the youngster played football for the Jackson State Tigers in his freshman year at Jackson State University. He then joined the Colorado Buffaloes at the University of Colorado Boulder following his head coach Deion Sanders in 2023.
Hailing from Suwanee, Georgia, United States, he is a veteran college football player, who started his career with the Jackson State Tigers.
He is currently a junior majoring in Anthropology and has already achieved several accolades in his college football career. Travis has so far won the following awards:

Travis Hunter was born to parents Travis Hunter Sr. and Ferrante Edmonds. Both of his parents are American nationals and have played a key role in their supporting their son throughout his career.
Ferrante Edmonds
Ferrante Edmonds is the mother of Travis Hunter who fondly refers to her son as “Mini-Deion”. Although there is not much available about her publicly, it is evident that she plays a very supporting role to her son. Ferrante notably attended the 2024 Heisman Trophy ceremony alongside her son’s fiancee, Leanna Lenee. Following the ceremony, she gave an interview and revealed how she always knew her son was a Heisman Trophy-level player, even with or without him winning it.

Travis Hunter Sr. is the father of Travis Hunter, and he was also an athlete during his younger days. He ran track and also played football at Boynton Beach High School in Florida. Travis Sr. reportedly had a record of running 100 meters in 10.82 seconds, and he was also a member of the record-breaking 440-meter relay team. He went on to play semi-professional football for the Southern States Football League and Florida Football Alliance.
Hunter Sr has recently spent time in prison, and was released three weeks early on December 5 after serving his 90-day sentence and the reason why Travis’ father could not be by his side during the Heisman Trophy was because he was sentenced to prison in Belle Glade at Palm Beach County West Detention Centre and this incarceration was a result of an arrest made in 2023. Travis’ father spent a total of 90 days at the Palm Beach County West Detention Centre and was released early.
While Travis Hunter Sr. did not attend his son’s Heisman Trophy-winning ceremony, he has played a very supportive role. According to his son’s speech, the father of the 21-year-old regularly attends his games and always keeps track of his progress. After receiving his award, Travis Hunter gave an emotional speech, stating:
I want to say something to my father. He’s not here and wasn’t able to make it, but I know you’re watching on TV. Dad, I love you. For all the stuff you went through, man… Now look at your oldest son. I did it for you, man.
He further added:
All the times that you didn’t get to see me, or the times you did come to see my games. From not seeing probably two games in high school to seeing me on TV every weekend and coming to see me. That means so much to me. I know you wanted to be here and you can’t, but trust me, I got you. I’m bringing the trophy home. I love you.”
