A young student named Karmelo Anthony was recently charged with the murder of fellow student Austin Metcalf. According to Frisco Police, Karmelo was involved in a verbal altercation with the 16-year-old at Kuykendall Stadium during a school athletics competition. The confrontation eventually escalated into a physical fight, where Anthony allegedly stabbed Metcalf, who later passed away from his injuries.
Following the shocking incident, authorities arrested Anthony at the scene and charged him with first-degree felony murder. However, despite the gravity of the situation, Karmelo spent just 12 days in jail before eventually getting released on bond.

Unsurprisingly, Anthony’s recent release has drawn massive public backlash, with his family paying the bond to allow him to walk free while awaiting trial. Notably, the bail was reduced to $250,000 bond, after it was originally set at $1 million. Meanwhile, further outrage intensified after news about Anthony and his family making plans to relocate using funds raised through a GoFundMe campaign. According to reports, the family raised over $420,000, through the fundraiser, as donors contributed to cover legal costs.

Karmelo Anthony is a young teenage boy who was born and raised in Frisco, Texas. He is currently 17 years old, and he was locally known as a student-athlete. He notably played football for Frisco Centennial High School and was also involved in the city’s athletics community.
Family
Karmelo Anthony comes from a family who have been thrust into the public eye ever since the stabbing. While there is hardly any information about his father Andrew Anthony, his mother, Kayla has been very vocal in defending her son ever since the incident. She has gone on to take part in public efforts to raise funds for his legal defense. Anthony reportedly has siblings as well, however, there are currently no specific details about them available.
Drew Anthony, the 17-year-old’s father, has routinely shared photos and videos on his Facebook account documenting his family’s latest adventure or lavish purchase. His mother is named Kala Hayes and recently said that their family moved to North Texas three years ago in search of a better life and to give their children the future they didn’t have and also revealed husband is currently on a leave of absence from work due to the investigation.
Hayes also said that her other children have also been affected and her 13-year-old daughter is “afraid to sleep in her own bedroom because she’s fearful of what might happen to her.”
Anthony, Karmelo’s father, recently argued in court saying his son is an A student and is the captain of his football and track team during his bail hearing.
Videos shared on Facebook by Karmelo’s uncle and grandmother showed the 17-year-old competing in track tournaments and on a football field during practice.
