Three bodies have allegedly been found in an area of northern Mexico at Baja Peninsula where two surfing brothers and their friend went missing after the two went out of contract from their family since Saturday, report in Reuters state as per a source who has knowledge of the investigation.

Authorities in Mexico have reportedly found a fourth body as part of the investigation and the discovery of the four bodies was made in a more than 15 metre deep well near a cliff in Punta San José in Santo Tomás on Friday.

The area is part of the Ensenada municipality just south of the US border, and close by a spot called the Lighthouse and the fourth body is believed to be that of a ranch owner who was reported missing several weeks ago.

The discovery of the bodies come amid the search for Perth siblings Jake and Callum Robinson, aged 30 and 33, and their American friend Jack Carter Rhoad, 30, who travelled to Mexico for a surfing trip. Their cause of death hasn’t been revealed yet.

The three surfers went missing earlier this week, and Baja California officials officially announced their absence in a press release on Thursday.

A woman and two men were detained as persons of interest. The woman was found in possession of one of the Australian surfers’ phones and a bag of drugs, according to the attorney general’s statement on Thursday, a report in Fox5Sandiego.com said.

The reports further stated that the white pickup truck belonging to the San Diego man was discovered on Wednesday and it it was set on fire.

The reports of their disappearance first surfaced on social media. They were on vacation near Ensenada, surfing, when they forgot to check into their prearranged accommodation.

The men vanished from an Airbnb in K38, a well-known Baja surfing location that is far closer to the border; their family didn’t notify the authorities of their whereabouts until a few days ago.

Attorney General of Baja California Maria Elena Andrade Ramírez claims that the men’s families lost valuable time in the hunt for them since they did not report them missing immediately.

While the investigation is being conducted by Mexican officials in collaboration with the FBI and the US and Australian consulates, let us have a look at who these brothers are.
