On 6th May, Guwahati Police filed a charge sheet against Dr. Walliul Islam and his wife, Dr. Sangeeta Datta, as they have tortured their 3-year-old daughter who is ‘adopted’ for several months. This horrific incident came into the light when a child rights activist Miguel Das Queah shared about it on his Facebook page, pleading with police in rescuing the minor girl.

As per some reports, the accused, 54 year old Dr Walilur Islam adopted one baby with his first wife also, but as soon he separated from his first wife, he left the adopted baby and is a serial offender. Earlier, a complaint was filed against Waliul for physically and mentally torturing his ex- wife and their child.
Waliul Islam (54) is a experienced general physician.

Back in 2017, Islam was charged in a similar case.
Dr. Walliul Islam arrested
Numerous media reporters have revealed that Dr. Waliul Islam and a caretaker of their house named Lakshmi Nath are both arrested while Dr. Sangeeta Datta is absconding.
The child rights activist Miguel Das Queah reacting to this incident revealed that the minor has sustained severe injuries due to torture. In a Facebook upload, Queah has written, “The little girl child has injury marks on her buttocks while Dr. Sangeeta Datta had the guts of releasing dramatic video statements on her social media. You both husband and wife deserve jail time. On the 11th of March, when the girl was first spotted on the terrace, tied up in almost a state of dehydration. She could have died, you morons.”
In another upload, the activist urged the police to rescue the minor girl from the abusive environment. The child rights activist claimed that Dr. Waliul Islam has another adopted daughter from an earlier marriage, whom he abandoned.
The activist has requested the Assam Police Department to check for bruises, check adoption documents, and talk with their neighbors. The girl should be immediately pulled out of the abusive environment by the Child Protection Authorities.
The police department revealed that Dr. Waliul Islam has been previously charged with a similar act of offense. “In early 2017, Dr. Islam was accused of abuse and had appeared before Child Protection Commission,” a report said.
Dr. Islam and his wife’s cruelty has now come to the notice of Guwahati police and action will be taken against them.
