The undisputed Liverpool legend, Roberto Firmino, bids goodbye to the team along with James Milner, know about their new club
Firmino arguably became the true representation of the era of success under Jurgen Klopp. Know why they left and their future plans.
Which are the new club of Roberto Firmino and James Milner and their transfer news as they are given farewell by Liverpool
The Liverpool duo of Roberto Firmino and James Milner will leave the club this summer as legitimate “legends”. The announcement was confirmed by their longtime manager, Jurgen Klopp.
Together with Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, they are leaving Anfield after several years of service. Each of them had previously won a Premier League winners’ medal in 2019/20.
The Reason Behind the Four Players Leaving the Team
Roberto Firmino
Firmino will let his contract lapse this summer and is scheduled to formally leave Liverpool on June 30. Since the arrival of Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo, and Darwin Nunez to the team, the Brazilian has fallen farther and farther down the attacking pecking order.
The 31-year-old player, affectionately known as “Bobby,” has been at Anfield since Brendan Rodgers brought him on board in 2015.
Future Plans of Firmino
According to Italian media rumours, Firmino wants a new beginning, and AC Milan is interested in signing him. Barcelona are the odds-on favourite to sign Firmino as his next club, although other options include Napoli, Real Madrid, and Inter.
Firmino’s Liverpool Record
With 360 games played in all competitions and 109 goals scored, the Brazilian forward leaves the club. And out of 254 appearances, 80 of those goals have come in the Premier League.
He joined the team from Hoffenheim in Germany and took up the ‘false nine’ position, joining Mo Salah and Sadio Mane in a renowned Liverpool front line. Firmino collected championship trophies at Liverpool for the UEFA Super League, Club World Cup, FA Cup, League Cup, Community Shield, and Champions League.
James Miller
Milner, another fan favourite who has spent many years at Anfield, will say goodbye this summer. The 37-year-old also joined Liverpool in 2015 under Rodgers and has played for the team in many roles; he is “Mr. Versatile”.
Since joining Liverpool from Manchester City, Milner has been a leader in the team’s locker room. However, despite Klopp’s desire to keep Milner, the club chose not to extend his contract. The ‘amicable’ negotiations reportedly ended in failure, and he will look for greener pastures elsewhere.
Future Plans of Milner
When his contract with Liverpool expires, it is commonly predicted that the former player from Newcastle, Leeds, and Aston Villa will join Brighton on a free transfer. A deal may be close, according to recent sources, but Leeds and Burnley have also reportedly expressed interest.
Milner’s Liverpool Record
He’s got the same winner’s medal haul as Firmino, having been at the club for an identical period of time. It included the Premier League, FA Cup, Champions League, League Cup, Community Shield, UEFA Super League, and Club World Cup.
He has already made around 900 appearances across all clubs and competitions; 330 of those were for Liverpool, where he also scored 26 goals. His record for Liverpool in the Premier League is 228 appearances and 19 goals.
