True-crime fans have been interested in Jeffrey Dahmer’s horrible crimes for decades, and now the chilling story is being told again in Netflix’s new show.
During a 13-year killing spree, Jeffrey Dahmer killed 17 men and boys. He might have killed more if Tracy Edwards hadn’t escaped from Dahmer’s apartment in 1991, which is shown at the beginning of the episode.

Tracy Edwards was a key part of Jeffrey Dahmer’s arrest and conviction, but what has become of him in the years since he almost got away with murder?

How Tracy Edwards Got To Know Jeffrey Dahmer?
On July 22, 1991, Dahmer met three men in a Milwaukee bar. And paid them $100 to come back to his apartment. One of the men was Tracy Edwards, who was 32 years old. He took Dahmer up on his offer and went to his apartment with him.
The Chicago Tribune says that Edwards became afraid of Dahmer. When the serial killer tried to handcuff him and showed a knife. When Dahmer wasn’t looking, Edwards hit him on the head and ran out of the apartment.
Edwards yelled for help, and two Milwaukee police officers came to help him get back to Dahmer’s apartment. They found Polaroids of Dahmer’s victims who had been cut up, and later they found many body parts, including two full skeletons and two preserved skulls.
After Dahmer was caught, he admitted to killing people and pleaded guilty to 16 counts of murder. He was given 16 life sentences, which added up to more than 900 years in prison.
Where Did Tracy Edwards Go?
Tracy Edwards would later testify against Dahmer in court in 1992. He was a part of the legal process that led to Dahmer’s conviction as a serial killer.
But 20 years after barely getting away from Dahmer Edwards was arrested on July 26, 2011, on charges that he helped another man throw someone off a Milwaukee bridge.
ABC News says Edwards, who was 52 at the time, had been living in shelters. Since 2002, when he lost his home.
In 2012, Edwards admitted to killing the man who was thrown off the bridge and was found guilty. Tracy was given a sentence of a year and a half in jail. And two more years of extended supervision after she got out. Tracy Edwards will be about 63 years old in 2022.
