The Indian cricket supporters were miffed even before the game was called off because their team’s star batter, Virat Kohli.
Thrilled cricket fans were left disappointed on Saturday as the highly anticipated match between India and Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2023 was cancelled at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy, Sri Lanka, due to persistent rain. Indian cricket fans were dissatisfied because Virat Kohli was out early and could only muster four runs in seven balls before the game was called off.
A Pakistani girl can be heard in a video that has gone viral today expressing that she, too, is sad that Kohli was unable to hit a century. She claimed that she had travelled to Kandy with hopes of seeing Virat Kohli play, but she had been let down. Despite Pakistani star Babar Azam being one of the top batsmen in the world, the fan girl preferred the former Indian captain.
The young girl declared her affection for Virat Kohli and her preference for him over Babar Azam. She was sad, however, to learn that the game had been postponed owing to inclement weather, just like every other cricket fan. She said:
“I’m a bit upset as Virat Kohli is my favourite cricketer, and I wanted him to see score a century. I had come to see the match only for him and see him live.”
She further said:
“I’m supporting Pakistani also, but I love Virat Kohli.”
A Pakistani supporter then interfered, urging the woman to back Pakistan rather than India. The young girl then responded to that:
Chacha Padosi ko pyaar karna koi buri baat toh nahin hain na (Uncle, loving your neighbour is not a bad thing).”
