Lil Yachty walkout meme origins explained
The viral video of Yachty strutting down in front of legions of his fans comes from footage of an actual appearance that he made at the 2021 music festival Lyrical Lemonade Summer Smash. An official YouTube video of the performance originally uploaded live on June 20, 2022, and has amassed over 4.5 million views.
According to many fans, the clip of Yachty’s walkout was among the hardest walkouts in the history of live music. And just months after the original YouTube video was posted, various memes started popping up across social media. Soccer fans, in particular, started using the clip to showcase their passions around 2023. While Yachty’s walkout memes started gaining increasingly popular reaction across social media platforms, the meme further evolved with AI.
Lil Yachty walkout meme AI videos
Earlier this month in April, 2024, an X user named “AI Wrapper” posted a mashup of the Yachty clip. However, instead of featuring Yachty, the clips replaced Yachty with Batman villain The Joker (played by Joaquin Phoenix). Notably, the user used Viggle AI, a software that allows users to manipulate the look of videos and transfer styles across visual barriers.
Overtime, the video quickly went viral on social media, capturing the interest and intrigue of many netizens. In the past few weeks, netizens, especially those from the sports world, have gone all out on the trend. Various netizens have used the Lil Yachty walkout meme, replacing him with sporting figures like Nikola Jokic, Tom Thibodeau, Roman Reigns, and much more.
