Following the advent of Sony’s and Microsoft’s newest systems Visual Concepts now releases two distinct versions of its yearly basketball game. The version of NBA 2K23 next-gen will have the finest performance & visual fidelity and typically offers a more complicated world to explore. Due to hardware restrictions. Last-gen platforms like PS4 and Xbox One are unable to run the most advanced copy of the game.

While we don’t yet know all that will be included in NBA 2K23. We do know that the game’s editions for the PC and Nintendo Switch won’t be next-generation. Given that the handheld platform is known to be less capable than the PS4 and Xbox One, this makes logical.

However, some fans will be disappointed to see NBA 2K23 for PC. It is the same game as is available for PS4, Xbox One, and Switch. Although this may change in the future. Visual Concepts has confirmed that NBA 2K23 would not feature any sort of next-gen alternative on the PC platform.

The NBA 2K23 team’s full statement is as follows:

“Are there any plans to bring the next generation of NBA 2K titles to PC and Nintendo Switch in the future?

“This is something the team is passionate about and will continue to investigate what is possible for the franchise in the future. For now, the focus was on assuring NBA 2K23 was optimized for the new consoles (PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S), while also making sure the experience remains fresh and innovative for players on other platforms.”

 

The Standard Edition will cost $59.99 on PC, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation® 4 (PS4TM), & Nintendo Switch, and $69.99 on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation® 5. (PS5TM). Later this Fall, a special edition of a Standard Edition that highlights the relationship between basketball and popular culture will also be available.
