On Friday morning, October 28, 2022, early on, Westside Gunn issued the ninth chapter of the venerable series. Hitler Wears Hermes 10 made the rounds on social media because the report came out the same evening as its release by Westside Gunn.
Hitler Wears Hermes has drawn criticism in the past. However, Conway The Machine, the rapper’s brother, clarified that the moniker is a play on the 2006 film The Devil Wears Prada. The series, which debuted in 2012, will end with this latest chapter, according to Westside Gunn.
Rappers like ASAP Rocky, Black Star, Run the Jewels, Stove God Cooks, and Benny the Butcher are among those who have featured on the album.
Westside Gunn Describes The Project
Westside Gunn admitted to Peter Rosenberg of Hot 97 that he felt it was appropriate to discontinue the project after the eleventh series. However, the rapper defended his controversial Hitler Wears Hermes series.
He said, “You already know I have a renowned series called Hitler Wears Hermes which I started 10 years ago in 2012. Every year at this time, up till now, I’ve made ‘Part 1,’ ‘Part 2,’ ‘Part 3,’ and ‘Part 4,’ so it only seems appropriate if I end it on 10.”
“The last one was meant to be the last one, but I felt strange performing nine and not ten of them,” he added. And like with anything, the tenth year is usually a cause for celebration.
In addition, Westside Gunn assured that his upcoming album Michelle Records, which is dedicated to his late aunt, will be released soon.
Westside Gunn: Who Is He?
Alvin Lamar Worthy, commonly known as Westside Gunn, was born in Buffalo, New York, in July 1982. In 2012, he joined forces with rapper Mach-Hommy and his brother Conway The Machine to co-found the record label Griselda Records.
Westside Gunn became the first rapper from Buffalo to work with a major record label when Griselda Records collaborated with Eminem’s label Shady Records from 2017 to 2020.
