At the BetVictor Welsh Open’s quarterfinal, Allen allowed his opponent the opportunity to bag the first frame. After the following two frames were shared, Milkins raced to 3-1 lead thanks to Allen’s miss in the fourth frame. Despite best efforts from Allen, his opponent held reign of the momentum and managed to bag the next two frames that sealed the match in favor of Milkins by score of 5-1. Chinese star Pang Junxu defeated Joe O’Connor by a slim margin of 5-4 to qualify for his first ranking event semifinal. O’Connor overcame a 4-2 deficit to pull within 4-4, but Pang won the match admirably with a break of 124 in the decisive frame.
Tian Pengfei, who is moving on to the semi-final of a ranking event for the first ever, defeated world champion Ronnie O’Sullivan 5-0 at the BetVictor Welsh Open, handing him Ronnie of his most surprising losses in recent memory. In order to schedule a meeting with Pang Junxu, in-form Shaun Murphy defeated Yuan Sijun 5-0, also enjoying a whitewash victory. Pang Junxu will compete against Shaun Murphy in the semi-final match on Saturday, and Tian Pengfei will take against Robert Milkins.

It is assumed that the 2023 Welsh Open champion would receive £80,000 out of the $427,000 total prize fund. The tournament’s runner-up will receive £35,000 in contrast to the losing semifinalists, who will only receive £17,500.
