For some reason, Ravichandran Ashwin decided to direct his rage at SuperSport after Dean Elgar was given not out courtesy of DRS on day 3 of the SA vs IND 3rd test match
For someone who is said to be one of the most acumen filled minds in the Indian cricket team currently, Ravichandran Ashwin lost all semblance about him and lost anger to cloud his school of thought. While him getting irked after DRS overturned Dean Elgar’s decision with the technology malfunctioning was justified, Ashwin’s decision to tear into broadcaster SuperSport was misguided.
R Ashwin Claims SuperSport Tried To Distort DRS And Hawkeye On Day 3 Of The 3rd SA vs IND Test Match
Scouring for Dean Elgar’s wicket, the man who had won the hosts the second test match, India deployed Ravi Ashwin to send the South African back. And the trick worked like a charm with Ashwin getting him trapped infront of the wickets, a LBW decision which was soon overturned as the home side’s captain went onto opt for a review.

Just for the record. This is available on the ICC website on the playing conditions. Technology to be used for DRS… it is through a list of approved vendors. They do their own thing, with ball-tracking or sound-based detection. pic.twitter.com/iwFRcwylSt

While the appeal worked in his favour, it was laden with controversy with Hawkeye showing the ball going well over the stumps, bounce which made for bemusing viewing. However, while the technology was to be blamed and rightfully so as well owing to the gaffe, the Indian team for some perplexing reason decided to level the blame on SuperSport, the broadcasters of the series.
Despite it being well documented that the broadcasters are only liable for purchasing the technology from an ICC approved vendor, Ashwin who is known to be in knowhow of cricketing issues decided to go after SuperSport. He was seen asking the channel to opt for better tactics to try and win the encounter, claims echoed by captain Virat Kohli.
