Peterborough 2-1 Portsmouth

After a 2-1 victory over Portsmouth, Darren Ferguson’s managerial comeback at Peterborough continues. With a first-half double, Jonson-Clarke-Harris reclaimed first place in League One’s scoring rankings and assisted the Posh in closing the gap on the playoff spots by two points.

Despite a late comeback by his team, Pompey head coach John Mousinho suffered his first loss. Posh captain Clarke-Harris made an opening in the 18th minute by tapping onto a Kwame Poku ball. After Ephron Mason-Clark was tripped by Zak Swanson in the 44th minute, he then scored his 15th league goal from the penalty spot.

Hector Kyprianou and Joe Ward both had shots saved by Matt Macey in the first half. In the second, as the home crowd began to riot, Jack Taylor sent a header just wide. Reeco Hackett-Fairchild, a substitute, and spectators in the opposing section believed he had led Pompey to an unexpected victory when he shot past Will Norris in the 76th minute. Nevertheless, throughout the build-up, the attempt was determined to be offside.

Another cross from Hackett Fairchild resulted in a goal from Nathan Thompson. Peterborough, though, resisted strong pressure and won all three points.

Following the game, John Mousinho stated that he received an explanation from the fourth official, and he comprehended the fact that they were unable to use replays. He was penalised for offside against Dane Scarlett, and upon review, it seemed to have been a very close decision. The assistant’s failure to raise his flag tells everything but no one probably can say for sure whether it was or wasn’t.

According to Peterborough’s Darren Ferguson, It was a comfortable game that turned quite uncomfortable.  Given how many uncontested opportunities they had with the score at 2-0, they were only responsible for themselves.
