The worst goals scored in the 2021/22 football season have been gathered by a Reddit user.
The list includes everything from goalkeeping gaffes to unfortunate ricochets.
We’ve seen some incredible goals this year. Both Lionel Messi’s Champions League finish against Man City and Mohamed Salah’s solo run against the Cityzens will live long in the memory.
However, there have been several goals that are plain depressing to watch.

The Worst Goals of the 2021/2022 season compilation from soccer
Abdul Rwatubyaye (Rwanda)
The compilation starts with a goal that blurs the boundary between bad and great play.
From a corner, a Rwandan player leaps to his feet and heads for the floor. The header bounces past the goalkeeper and into the net after bouncing off Rwatubyaye’s knee.
This goal seems strikingly similar to one scored in English football not long ago: Mohamed Diame’s lopping attempt against Brighton in 2017.
Aleksandar Mitrovic (Fulham)
In truth, there is an England goal on this list. The more you watch Mitrovic’s Fulham attempt, the more entertaining it becomes!
The goalie tries to keep the ball in play by chesting it before scuffing a weak clearance towards Mitrovic. Despite losing his footing, the Serbian manages to steer his effort into the back of the net by angling his left knee towards the ball.
A witty goal for a striker who blazed through the Championship in 2021-22.
Mathieu Dossevi OG (Amiens)
The list includes a tragedy at the back for Amiens in the French second division.
No one could have predicted what happened next as Dossevi chested the ball down for his goalkeeper. The ball rolls over his foot and into the back of the net as the Amiens goalkeeper tries to control it with his feet.
What’s more astonishing is that the goalkeeper would have been totally comfortable grabbing the ball from the chest down with his hands. This goal perfectly exemplifies the term “defensive mix-up.”
Thomas Strakosha (Lazio)
The compilation’s final notable goal comes from Lazio goalie Thomas Strakosha.
Strakosha appears to be poised to capture the ball after a looping clearance from his opponent. The Albanian, however, fumbles his catch into the post, causing the ball to bounce back to him and into the net.
