On loan from Arsenal, Marseille’s William Saliba got embroiled in a fight with Galatasaray’s Mbaye Diagne in the Europe League
Failing to win Mikel Arteta during his time at Arsenal, William Saliba was eventually offloaded to Marseille. Failing to appear for the club once in the Premier League, Saliba who had become an outcast under the tutelage of the Spaniard had publicly berated Arteta.
Currently in Ligue 1 with him plying his wares with Marseille, Saliba has shown what he’s capable of when allowed to express himself freely. The centreback has showcased his mettle on a slew of occasions including the club’s encounter against Galatasaray in the Europa League on Thursday night.
William Saliba And Mbaye Diagne Fight During Marseille vs Galatasaray
Saliba took centrestage in the heart of the French side’s defensive setup with him refusing to be fazed by what the visitors threw his way. The player’s fight and character was well documented in which brawl with Galatasaray’s Mbaye Diagne as the two players locked heads in the tailend of the encounter.
Saliba refused to step down as the two shoved and pushed each other with a string of players from either side getting involved in the fight. The brawl soon turned ugly, a theme which was noted all across the 90 minutes with the ultras of both the clubs causing the match to halt at one stage in the first half after flares were shot in the concourses.

The match meanwhile ended 0-0 with neither side able to break the deadlock on the night. It remains to be seen if Saliba’s pluck and grit against the club from Turkey has managed to win over Arteta and if the player has any future at Arsenal.
