NBA legend Dwyane Wade was taunted by Knicks supporters during game 1 with disgusting remarks over his daughter Zaya Wade

The former NBA player, who played for the Miami Heat for the bulk of his lengthy career, revealed last month that he was compelled to leave the Sunshine State due to the state’s anti-LGBT+ legislation. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed the “Don’t Say Gay” measure into law in 2022, making it illegal for public school instructors to speak about sexual orientation and gender identity.

Because of his transgender daughter, Zaya Wade, his family has been a hot topic of conversation. Many people have voiced their opposition to it and him.

Wade attended Game 1 of the Miami Heat vs. New York Knicks series at Madison Square Garden. Wade left the building after the Heat won 108-101, but not before he came into contact with some Knicks supporters. They naturally booed him because he was supporting the team he played on, but one man did it while inquiring as to why the other person had mutilated his son.

The gender and name of Dwyane Wade’s 15-year-old transgender daughter were officially changed earlier this year. The petition was approved by a Los Angeles County judge after it was initially submitted by the former NBA player in August 2022.

Zaya, a child that Dwyane had with his ex-wife Siohvaughn Funches, came out as trans in February 2020. The adolescent is currently recognised by law as a lady; her full legal name is Zaya Malachi Airamis Wade.

The former NBA player has consistently fought for Zaya’s freedom to “live more comfortably and honestly in all aspects of her life,” while Funches has accused her ex-partner of “pressuring” their child to “move forward” with a name and gender change “in order to capitalise on financial opportunities.”

In a November 2022 filing, Dwyane stated that Zaya shouldn’t be had to put her life on hold while waiting for Siohvaughn to recognise and accept her truth. “While it certainly would have been preferable for Zaya’s mother to be supportive of this important part of Zaya’s journey, Zaya should not be forced to put her life on hold,” he added.
