F1 Hungarian GP Mercedes Lockout The Front Raw Before The Sunday Race
Mercedes need this weekend to be perfect in their pursuit of RedBull in the Driver’s Championship and the Constructor’s League. They are currently behind RedBull by a narrow margin of 4 points and Lewis Hamilton is 8 points behind Max Verstappen in the Driver’s Championship.
Lewis Hamilton showed impressive pace ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix and was extremely fast at one of the slowest circuits in the calendar. He seems to have forgotten the collision with Verstappen at the first lap of the British Grand Prix which has tilted the momentum towards the English driver.
On the other hand, Verstappen was frustrated after missing out on the front row and stupid questions from the media who are penny for his thoughts about the crash with Hamilton at the Silverstone which caused him precious Championship points.
Valtteri Bottas kept his cool at the burning Hungaroring replicating his excellent pace in the practice securing the second position on the grid. Although, his future with Mercedes is uncertain as George Russel looks set to get behind the wheels of Mercedes.
It will be interesting to see which team triumphs at the Hungaroring before the summer break as the rivalry intensifies between RedBull and Mercedes. Both teams are opting for different strategies as RedBull used soft compound tyres, where Mercedes went for the mediums.
