Captain Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were seen gesturing animatedly to Rishabh Pant and Ishant Sharma from the dressing room as light continued despite bad light
After losing their top three in the first session of day 4 itself, India found themselves in a real soup. The visitors had no one but themselves to blame for their predicament with the side looking headed towards a defeat.
Given the manner in which the team’s middle-order has been wobbling across the last couple of years, little was envisaged when Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane stepped out after lunch. However, the two not only steadied the ship but treaded their way past thin ice but saw out a magnitude of balls to revive India’s interests in the two.
However, England struck back with a trio of quick wickets as Ajinkya Rahane walked back for 51, Cheteshwar Pujara departed for 45. Ravindra Jadeja was quick to follow suit with the visiting side once again finding itself in a pickle.
England vs India: Virat Kohli And Rohit Sharma Ask Rishabh Pant To Question The Umpires Over Bad Light
As Rishabh Pant and Ishant Sharma tried to see out the day without any further calamity, the Indians tried everything in their repertoire to stave off day’s play. And with light at the Lord’s cricket ground dwindling with each passing minute, the side got just what it wanted.
However, with England deploying their spinners and the floodlights switched on at the venue, the umpires refused to halt play. It left everyone including the Indian camp irate with many questioning the match officials decision to not call off day 4’s play.
A livid Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were left confounded at the set of events unravelling with the duo especially questioning Rishabh Pant for his inability to ask the umpire to bring an end to play. The two were seen gesturing to the wicket-keeper to ask the umpires to bring the curtains down.
