As the camera zoomed in on a man chewing gutkha and talking on his phone, the visuals needed little time in going viral. And given that the showdown was taking place in Kanpur, a hilarious meme fest was sparked on social media platforms with people referencing the visuals to the famous Hera Pheri Bollywood movie series.

Over the years, UP and Kanpur in particular have gained a reputation for being famous for paan. And the visuals captured during the test match were all that were needed to rerun the jokes on the paan lovers in the region.
Day 2 of the matchup meanwhile saw the Black Caps act as the dominant force on the day. While Shreyas Iyer’s century in his debut test match was enough to take India to a respectable 345, the hosts were lackluster with the ball with the hosts putting on a century stand for the opening wicket.
Both Tom Latham and Will Young notched half-centuries to take the visitors to 129-0 at the end of the day’s proceedings. Earlier, Ravindra Jadega and Shubman Gill had both scored half-centuries for the hosts to give much needed company to Shreyas from one end.
