When it comes to raising money, some choose to hold lavish parties, run arduous marathons, or auction off valuable antiques. One US high school, however, made the decision to do something unusual for their “Wonderful Week of Fundraising” in order to raise money for Not Your Average Joe Coffee.

The latter is a charity coffee shop in Oklahoma that supports the employment of individuals and kids with physical, mental, and intellectual challenges. However, these teenagers from Edmond chose to fundraise by having a fellow student lick their feet after taking off their shoes.

A footage from the event which featured teenagers from Deer Creek High School “kissing and sucking” on one other’s feet went viral. After the first video was shared on social media, people flocked to criticise the school in large numbers.

A viewer said, “We sold candy to raise money when I was in high school.”

According to the district, Deer Creek High School held an assembly known as “Clash of Classes” on February 29.  Pupils from different grades reportedly offered their time to take part in “student-organized class competitions” with the intention of collecting money for Not Your Average Joe Coffee. “No Deer Creek employees or faculty took part in any of the games during this assembly’s Clash of Classes.”

Additionally, the district revealed that for the competition, pupils were partnered with equivalent grade levels.

Amount raised in the event

The unusual event successfully raised an impressive $152,830.38 (£120,747.71) for Not Your Average Joe Coffee, a feat the district hailed as a significant achievement. The district commended the students for their dedication and generosity, noting that their efforts would benefit communities beyond Deer Creek.
