George Galloway career

Galloway’s entry into Parliament came in 1987 when he was elected as the MP for Glasgow Hillhead. Although known for his left-wing views, he was never a member of the Campaign Group. His election marked the beginning of a long and eventful parliamentary career.
Galloway’s career in the Labour Party was not without controversy with the Labour Party withdrawing support from its candidate, Azhar Ali, due to his anti-Israel comments. In 2003, he was expelled from the party due to his vocal opposition to the Iraq War, a stance that put him at odds with the party leadership.
Galloway’s affiliation with the Respect Party saw him rise to prominence as its leader from 2013 until its dissolution in 2016. During this time, he represented Bethnal Green and Bow as an MP.
Following the dissolution of the Respect Party, Galloway founded the Workers Party of Britain in 2019.
Galloway’s political activism extended beyond British shores. He testified to the United States Senate in 2005 regarding alleged payments from the UN’s Oil-for-Food Programme. He has also been a vocal supporter of Palestinian rights and has voiced opposition to India’s role in the Kashmir conflict.
Throughout the campaign, Galloway pledged to advocate for Gaza in Parliament by promising to challenge Labour’s initial support for Israel in the wake of a significant attack led by Hamas.
George Galloway has been a prominent figure in the media by hosting the TalkRadio show The Mother of All Talk Shows and broadcasting on Russia Today (RT) until 2022.
In a resounding victory, left-wing politician George Galloway secured a landslide win in a parliamentary by-election in Rochdale, UK. Running on a platform advocating for Gaza, Galloway’s triumph underscored the significance of his pro-Palestinian stance in the northern English town.
Following his win, Galloway delivered a pointed message to Labour leader Keir Starmer, attributing his victory to the leader’s stance on the Gaza conflict.
