The Office has now become a cultural landmark, with productions such as Disney+’s WandaVision paying tribute to the iconic comedy. The official YouTube account for The Office posted a never-before-seen clip from the Season 5 episode “The Surplus” to keep the series alive in the minds of fans.
Season 5 Of The Office Had A Deleted Scene
The video depicts Michael Scott up to his typical shenanigans, attempting to talk his way out of a situation he’s created during the course of the episode.
Those who remember “The Surplus,” Season 5 episode 10, may recall that the office crew is divided about what to buy with Dunder Mifflin’s $4,300 surplus. He attempts to convince the workers that they don’t need anything new for the office after finding that he can simply turn in the surplus for a bonus equivalent to 15% of the money.
The video shows Michael going on a rant about how, as a 12-year-old kid, he never received a Pippi Longstocking doll for Christmas. “‘No!’ shouted his wicked stepfather Jeff. You might not get what you desire. You have to have a football.’ And the child sobbed, and he cried, and he screamed, and he cried, and he cried, and he cried, and he wouldn’t eat his meal…”
Michael then declares that his stepfather Jeff was correct, and that because he already has a G.I. Joe, a Stretch Armstrong, a Malibu Barbie, and a Major Matt Mason (which he admits is “technically enough for a tea party,” he doesn’t need anything else.
The footage continues as Michael humorously tries to convince his staff that they don’t need to spend the extra money on anything. Until Oscar discovers his true plans and confronts him.
The Office YouTube account periodically publishes other never-before-seen snippets that are generally equally as hilarious as this Season 5 treasure. So fans of the show should definitely keep a look out for any future moments revealed.
