The video which has gone viral on social media platforms, shows members of the police escorting the child to the police car. Upon being quiezzed by bystanders of what crime he had committed, they were informed that the kid was stealing a bag of Doritos from a store.
“The incident, including the officers’ actions and body-worn cameras, are being reviewed. There is some misinformation involving this case,” Syracuse Police Department said in a statement issued after the video left people livid.
One onlooker who decided to record the set of events had gone onto offer the police to pay for the bag of chips and implored them to set him free owing to his vulnerable age. However, the police has gone onto affirm that the child wasn’t handcuffed or put behind bars with him subsequently driven back home.
