People in India took to the streets as they took out a bike procession to rejoice in Argentina defeating Brazil in the Copa America

Argentina needed more than 20 years to walk away with the prestigious Copa America but the wait was worth it at the end.

When the country defeated Brazil 1-0 to mark the end of the side’s drought, the relieve was fraught across the players’ faces. The scenes of jubilant celebrations were an epitome of the solace the win in the summit clash had brought to not only the side but the team’s raucous supporters as well.

Argentina and in particular Lionel Messi have gone onto accrue a colossal following in the country especially in states like Goa and Kerala. And visuals came filtering in from these states of people thronging to the streets on bikes as they raucously flew the Argentina flag and shouted chants.

With Kerala being in a shambles with its COVID management since the onset of the disease, its bemusing to understand the complete callousness of the residents in the state. Despite blowing its own horn, the state has continued to report upwards of 10,000 cases per day at a time when the second wave has all but neared its tailend across India.
