Footballers Defend Vinicius Jr After The Real Madrid Player Received Racist Comments Over His Dance Moves

Vinicius, a Real Madrid player, has come under fire for his exuberant dancing after scoring goals.
The 22-year-old has faced racist harassment because of remarks made about his dancing, which has been compared to monkeys. Neymar, who is used to dancing to celebrate goals, has nevertheless lent his support to the young attacker.

Everyone has experienced the rush of happiness that follows a goal. Pumping fist in the air, hugging teammates, or, like Vinicius Jr., grinning and dancing next to the corner flag, all is a form of celebration. The exquisite Brazilian dances not only express the player’s enjoyment but also brighten the lives of thousands or millions of followers throughout the world.

But there will always be those who can’t stand other people’s happiness. One of them is Pedro Bravo, a guest on the Spanish soccer panel show Chiringuito de Jugones, who called Vincius Jr.’s dance celebrations disgustingly racist in his remarks.

The conversation began outside the studio when Koke, the captain of Atlético de Madrid, said “there would be trouble” if Vincius Jr. scored for Real Madrid in the upcoming derby on Sunday and chose to dance in celebration. The problem is that Koke’s quotation was discussed, examined, and dissected on Chiringuito de Jugones. Pedro Bravo then abruptly said his now-famous words about him.

If you want to dance the samba, go to the sambódromo. Here, what you have to do is to respect your colleagues and stop playing the monkey.”

Bravo then apologized later but it was too late as the damage was done.

Neymar was playing in the front row and was given a yellow card this week after celebrating the same way he has all season. The PSG forward asked Vinicius to continue dancing after each goal in an Instagram story.

The club Real Madrid as a whole issued a press statement denouncing any acts of racism directed towards its players and pledging to take legal action.

Even the rivals Barcelona came in support of the player.

Footballing legend Pele also poured his support for the Brazilian.

This Sunday in La Liga at the Metropolitano, Real Madrid faces rivals from the city of Madrid in the El Derbi de Madrid.
Because Karim Benzema is out of the game due to injury, everyone has been focusing on Vinicius, the Frenchman’s offensive partner, and his celebrations. Neymar voiced his wish to see Vinicius score against Atlético Madrid in response to the criticism the talented forward had received previous to the game.
