Watch SL vs IND 2021: Yuzvendra Chahal Sends Down Ripper To Take Wicket Of Bhanuka Rajapaksa

Yuzvendra Chahal made it two wickets on the bounce as he sent down a jaffer to snag the wicket of Bhanuka Rajapaksa during the second Sri Lanka vs India ODI

Stepping out to bat first in the second ODI against India, Sri Lanka knew they would need to pull off a heroic effort if they were to salvage the series and keep it alive. After being routed by seven wickets in the series opener, the hosts took to the field striving to come out unscathed on Tuesday.

And the team got off to a flier of a start on the day. Both the openers, Avishka Fernando and Minod Bhanuka conjured up a stellar 77 run stand inside 14 overs to take their side off to a dream start.

In dire need of a wicket, Shikhar Dhawan deployed legspinner Yuzvendra Chahal out in the middle. And the spinner delivered an exceptional 14th over, sending down two well delivered balls to scalp two wickets on the bounce for his side.

SL vs IND 2021: Yuzvendra Chahal Sends Down Beauty To Take The Wicket OF Bhanuka Rajapaksa

He began by forcing a mishit from Minod Bhanuka with Manish Pandey taking a well judged catch. However, it was the subsequent delivery which was reminiscent of the Chahal of old as he sent down a cracker of a first ball to Bhanuka Rajapaksa.

Hitting the ball in the right area, Chahal’s delivery stayed straight to bamboozle Rajapaksa. Completely caught unaware by the myriad guile of the delivery and its trajectory, Bhanuka ended up edging the ball straight into Ishan Kishan’s gloves.

Chahal added his third as he cleaned up Dasun Shanaka for 16 runs in the 36th over. The three wickets on the day for Chahal were a testament to his skill set, one India will be ardently wishing he can show consistently ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup later this year.

Chahal’s exceptional wicket to wicket bowling saw India take control of the tie with them reducing Sri Lanka to 172-5 from 77-0. The home side’s mishap emulated the manner in which the side’s middle-order collapsed in the first ODI.
