In the second over of the Sri Lanka innings, Sri Lankan opener Avishka Fernando had nudged the ball and set off for a single which was never there. Curran sprinted for the ball. But instead of taking his time to pick it up and throw it, he kicked the ball and hit the bullseye for a run out and sent Danushka Gunathilaka packing for three.
The commentators were so impressed with his presence of mind that they actually vouched for him to become a part of the England National Football Team for Euro 2020. Watch Sam Curran and his smooth as silk application of football skills into cricket in the video below.

England vs Sri Lanka Second T20 Highlights
Sri Lanka had won the toss and decided to bat first. They got off to a bad start as they lost both the openers in 3.3 overs with just 18 runs on the board. Skipper Kusal Perera and Kusal Mendis managed to put 50 runs on the scoreboard before the Perera was dismissed for 21.
From hereon, a string of dismissals would begin and continue throughout the match. Sri Lanka would only manage a paltry 111/7 in their 20 overs. Mark Wood and Adil Rashid took two wickets each. Sam Curran and Chris Jordan also bagged one wicket apiece.
In the second innings, the visitors fought back in the start and reduced England to 36/4 after 6.3 overs. But the hosts’ middle-order Sam Billings, Liam Livingstone and Sam Curran scored 24, 29 and 11 respectively and came to their rescue. The teams will play the third T20I on Saturday, June 26 at The Rose Bowl in Southampton. A three-match ODI series starting June 29 will follow this T20 Series.
