In the second over of the competition, Gambhir, who was starting the batting for the India Capitals in the Twenty20 tournament, hit Gujarat Giants seamer Sreesanth for a six and a four off consecutive deliveries. Never one to back down from a battle, Sreesanth tried to get under Gambhir’s skin by slinging a few comments at the retired opener right away.
Sreesanth and Gautam Gambhir can be seen arguing verbally in a different widely shared video. As he got closer to the former captain of India, Parthiv Patel, the on-field umpire broke up the altercation between the two players to calm them down.
Meanwhile, in the Legends Cricket League 2023 Eliminator match, Gautam Gambhir struck 51 off 30 balls to assist the India Capitals in amassing a strong total of 223/7 in 20 overs. In three overs, S. Sreesanth took wickets at an economy rate of 11.70, but he also conceded 35 runs. India Capitals restricted the Gujarat Giants to 211/7 in 20 overs, winning the eliminator by a margin of 12 runs.
Sreesanth rips Gambhir to pieces on Instagram
The current argument between former India players Gambhir and Sreesanth worsened on Thursday when the former called the batsman “an arrogant and utterly classless individual” in a comment on the latter’s Instagram post.
Before the Legends League game between the India Capitals and Gujarat Giants on Wednesday, Gambhir shared a photo of himself grinning while wearing an Indian jersey. The caption read, “Smile when the world is all about attention!” and was a subtle jab at Sreesanth’s predicament.
In his comments on Gautam Gambhir’s Instagram post, Sreesanth described Gambhir as an arrogant and completely classless person. Up until yesterday, he claimed, he had always respected him and his family. But he referred to me as a “fixer” not once, but seven or eight times.
