Araujo showed how much he loves the Blaugrana at the end of the first half, when Robert Lewandowski and Memphis Depay scored goals to put Barcelona up 2-0 and in control even though they only had 10 players on the field.
It was necessary for the defender to chase the ball along the touchline, and while he was doing so, he took care not to run over the crest of Barcelona that had been engraved into the turf.

After the game was over, Araujo was asked about the gesture. And this is what he said in response: “I respect Barça so much. I will always jump over the emblem out of respect.”

Xavi was also asked about it at the press conference after the game, and the Barcelona manager said: “What Araujo did with the emblem is respect. It’s a detail from him.”
Araujo isn’t the only player in Spain who has been trying to show respect for their team during games lately.
Another one is Vinicius Junior. Last season, during a comfortable win over Valencia at the Santiago Bernabeu, the Real Madrid winger made sure to jump over the club’s logo.
