On Saturday, Manchester United CEO Richard Arnold met with a group of fans to discuss the Glazer family’s ownership of the club and their summer transfer plans. A small number of United fans said they were planning a ‘peaceful and lawful’ protest outside Arnold’s home in Cheshire on Saturday, but the club’s Chief Executive Officer averted the event by meeting with the group in a bar.

Arnold had been given information about the event, which had fans holding banners and chanting about the CEO and the Glazer family leaving United. Arnold then went to the pub where the supporters had gathered before the protest to speak directly to them.

Richard Arnold’s Answers to Fan’s Enquiries about Upcoming Season Plan & Financial Condition

While Arnold’s words appeared to be forthright and honest in an attempt to appease enraged fans, he did admit that the situation at the club was far from ideal. United has yet to confirm any new signings this summer, and while he did confirm that funds were available this summer, the situation at the club was far from ideal.

Arnold highlighted his displeasure with United’s failure to qualify for the UEFA Champions League next season despite spending £1 billion on players over the years, the most of any club in Europe. He also stated that he is dissatisfied with the club’s current situation, and that it raises doubts about whether the club can be fixed soon in the future. The club’s transfer policy, according to the CEO, is “burning through cash”.

The money that the manager and Director of Football seek for this summer, according to Arnold, is there. However, in order to invest in the future, such as a new stadium and a £250 million training facility, United must do something and attract investors.
