Official statement from Los Angeles Police

According to Los Angeles Police Chief Michel Moore, the shooter who killed PnB Rock in the South Los Angeles restaurant Roscoe’s House of Chicken & Waffles demanded jewellery and other items before he struggled with the rapper and started shooting.

According to Moore, the rapper was identified online as being at the restaurant just before the attack on Monday, and police are looking into whether that is what caused it. Rock, 30, whose real name was Rakim Allen, had eaten at the establishment with his girlfriend, who had shared a location-tagged picture on an Instagram post that has since been deleted.

He was viciously attacked by a person who apparently came to the area following a social media posting while he was there, enjoying a peaceful supper with his family — with his girlfriend or some kind of friend of his, Moore added. According to Police Capt. Kelly Muniz, a suspect displayed a gun inside the eatery and made the victim pay for something. The Times reported that Rock was a target because of his jewels.

Rock was shot by the assailant almost immediately during the robbery, according to Muniz. She asserted that after shooting the victim, the attacker drove away from the site by a side door. According to Muniz, the person was checked into a hospital at 1:59 p.m.

According to reports, detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department are searching through security footage from the restaurant to identify the shooter. Additionally, they are investigating surrounding businesses to see if any video footage captures the perpetrator driving or walking away. On Monday night, the material was being examined by the investigators. She opted not to comment on what was discovered.
