The clash did eventually resume but things failed to get better. As the tie ended, the Albanian supporters returned with their missiles with them once again serenading the visiting team’s players with scores of bottles.
This wasn’t the only incident of crowd violence on the night though with the England vs Hungary clash seeing unruly supporters go berserk as well. A section of the stadium housing Hungarian supporters was seen clashing with English police personnel with the miscreants managing to chase the security away from the stands.
It remains to be seen if FIFA will be taking any retrospective action on the Hungarian and Albanian FAs for their inability to control their fans.
