Following an excellent submission victory against Jordan Leavitt at UFC London, Paddy Pimblett exposed his frail side to the crowd.

Paddy Pimblett discusses death of close friend in a heartwarming Post-match Interview

Pimblett kept his word when he gave Leavitt the “tea bag” celebration. As he has become accustomed to doing during his first two fights in the UFC, he continued to celebrate by sprinting around the octagon and scaling the fence. Nevertheless, Pimblett’s attitude changed when he spoke with Michael Bisping after the bout. When the Liverpudlian disclosed that he had lost a friend who reportedly had mental health problems, he lost his normal frenetic and cheerful personality.

Pimblett finished Leavitt with a rear naked choke in the second round of their fight on Saturday. Later during his post-match interview, he revealed that he woke up on Friday morning at 4 a.m. to a message that one of his buddies back home had committed suicide.  As per Pimblett, the incident happened five hours before his weigh-in and hence, the UFC star dedicated his victory in the honor of his friend’s death.

The sold-out crowd erupted in applause after the emotional gesture like it earlier did for practically every action by Pimblett, which included jubilantly applauding buddy Molly McCann’s knockout to all of his maneuvers in the fight with Leavitt.

Paddy Pimblett’s Strong Message about tackling Mental Health issues

In the interview, Pimblett seized the chance to refute the idea that males shouldn’t discuss their issues. The 27-year-old lightweight fighter concluded the conversation by offering advice to individuals who are dealing with mental health problems. Finding assistance for Pimblett’s companion, who was obviously battling demons no one else could see, is too late. However, Pimblett clarified the matter and brought everyone’s attention to the importance of mental health issues.

During his interview, Pimblett urged everyone to speak openly about mental health issues and said that:

There’s a stigma in this world that men can’t talk. Listen, if you’re a man and you’ve got weight on your shoulders, and you think the only way you can solve it is by killing yourself, please speak to someone”

Not just in the US but all throughout the world, there is a significant mental health problem. A new toll-free number, 988, has been established by the United States for consumers to call if they have problems and need to speak with someone.
