Nigel Adkins quotes Kung Fu Panda
Nigel Adkins, who coaches Tranmere Rovers, was giving a post-match analysis of his team’s 2-1 win over Mansfield Town on Tuesday when the incident took place. The match ended with Tranmere defeating Mansfield with two goals by Regan Hendry and Rob Apter. The former Sheffield United boss was speaking about focusing on the present and forgetting about the past and the future. Adkins stated:
Well you have to be in the present moment. You can’t turn back time. The past is history, the future is a mystery! Today’s a gift, that’s why they call it the present.”
Following the interview, Tranmere Rovers shared their manager’s words on social media with the caption:
Some #WednesdayWisdom from the gaffer!”
However, what caught the attention of viewers was that Adkins’ post-match comments were extremely similar with some notable lines from the popular animated movie Kung Fu Panda 2. In particular, he sounded like Grand Master Oogway in a scene where he was trying to comfort the main character Po. Oogway said the following lines:
Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the present!”
