Bullfighter Emilio Macías saw this firsthand last Saturday at the Tlaxcala bullring when a bull from the Enrique Fraga ranch pierced him through the rectal region as he entered the arena to kill.

Tlaxcala’s Plaza de Toros ‘La Ranchero Aguilar’ was a scene of fear after the bull known as ‘Pharaoh’ gored bullfighter Emilio Macías.

He caught Emilio Macías off guard and caught him from behind, stabbing one of his horns in his leg just as he was ready to give ‘Pharaoh’ a final thrust.

Emilio was dangling from the horn for a few seconds when it spun and lodged itself in his rectal area. He was given emergency medical assistance and taken to a Puebla hospital.

In an emergency, the bullfighter underwent a nine-hour operation that left his prognosis reserved for his family, according to several accounts.

Macías is currently conscious in the hospital where he was operated on, his brother, also a bullfighter, José María Macías revealed.

His life is not in danger at this time despite the damage he suffered to his rectal area, one of his b*ttocks which was practically destroyed by the bull’s horn, and strong blows to his femur and other parts of his body.

Who is Emilio Macías?

Originally from Huamantla, Tlaxacala, Emilio Macías was born on May 23, 1995. Being the son of Primitivo Macías and the brother of matador José María Macías, Emilio Macías was always familiar with bullfighting because his family is committed to it. He started bullfighting in 2012, working with cattle at the property “El Cuate González” alongside other bullfighters.

On August 15 of that year, he made his stage debut at Huamantla’s Plaza de Toros ‘La Taurina’.
On July 27, 2014, Emilio Macías made his Plaza México debut, engaging in combat with calves from the ‘Guadiana’ cattle ranch.

Emilio Macías’s goring caused a stir on social media, particularly after the pictures were released. This sparked debate since, although some support bullfighting as an art form, others argue that it is “an act of cruelty” to bulls.

Bullfighting has been controversial for years and has even been outlawed in some states.
