Amidst all the action surrounding the match, Portuguese playmaker Matheus Nunes stole the show following a grisly finger injury. The 25-year-old had to be forced off late in the match after his finger appeared broken or dislocated. The £53million star who arrived last summer from Wolves went down before screaming out in pain.
Images of the player showed how his middle finger on his left hand broke in a gruesome manner, bending almost 90 degrees backwards at the knuckle. Following the injury, the Manchester City medical staff ran on to the field, immediately got to work and managed to strap it up. Guardiola eventually subbed off Nunes for youngster Micah Hamilton.
