Enduring a woeful FIFA World Cup 2022 qualifying campaign, further trouble has befallen the side with coach Louis van Gaal being confined to a wheelchair after suffering a calamitous bike accident. The Dutch supremo fractured his hip during a bicycle accident after Sunday’s practice session with Netherlands.

LVG was cycling back to the team hotel with his players and team before he went onto fall while putting his cycle away. The 70 year old was taken to the hospital for tests and treatment where it was ascertained that he would need to stay in a wheelchair at the moment.

While there were fears on if Louis van Gaal would be able to attend his side’s world cup qualifier against Norway, he looked to allay them by attending his side’s training on Monday in a golf cart with assistant coach Henk Fraser driving him around the pitch. He meanwhile abstained from a physical hearing from Monday’s press conference with him attending it through Zoom.
“I am in a lot of pain. That is why I was in a buggy during training.
“Physically it is not good, but the brain is still working. I can do everything. There are means at my disposal. It doesn’t look pretty, but coaching is verbal. I did everything at the training that I would have done otherwise,” the Dutch said of his predicament.
