On the night of February 22 versus South Carolina, Alabama star Brandon Miller was booed with chants of “lock him up” with the video now viral

A former teammate who had been engaged in a terrible shooting in January was handed the gun by the freshman forward, according to evidence provided by Tuscaloosa police the day before this tragedy.

What has been the story?

Following additional testing, Miller received permission to compete in the Southeastern Conference match against the Gamecocks. In a statement, Alabama stated, “In the ongoing investigation into this unfortunate incident, UA Athletics continues to work in complete cooperation with law enforcement. Brandon Miller is solely regarded as a cooperating witness in this case, not a suspect, based on all the material we have received,” based on DailyMail.

The statement went on to say, “The University has taken into account further context as a result of today’s statement from Brandon’s attorney as part of its examination of the facts. According to the information we have gathered, Brandon is still a contributing part of our team.”

Wrong place, wrong time!

Miller later amassed the most points by a freshman in a Division I game this year and in the history of Alabama. After tying the score with 4.1 seconds remaining in regulation, he made the game-winning basket with 0.9 seconds left in overtime. Nevertheless, when Miller touched the ball, the Colonial Life Arena crowd began to jeer him. As Miller played, the student section continually shouted “Lock him up” and “Guilty.”

The incident’s involvement with Miller wasn’t made public until Tuesday. The school was informed, according to Crimson Tide coach Nate Oats, who also said Miller was in the “wrong place at the wrong time.” Later on, he apologised for his unfortunate statements and said that he in no way intended to minimise the seriousness of this circumstance. The family of Jamea Harris is still in his prayers.

Is Brandon Miller being prosecuted for the shooting on January 15?

After Jamea Jonae Harris, 23, was shot and killed on January 15th, Miller was not charged. Michael Lynn Davis and Darius Miles, two former Alabama players, have been charged with capital murder. Miller gave the gun to Miles, who was booted from the programme after his arrest. The shooter has been identified as Davis.

Jim Standridge, Miller’s attorney, said that his client was not aware of the weapon. Strandridge said in a statement, “The handgun was never seen or touched by Brandon. We believe that the firearm was also hidden in his car’s back seat, under some clothing.”

On January 15, Miles texted Miller to ask him to bring his gun to a location off-campus where 23-year-old Harris was ultimately shot and died. According to testimony given on Tuesday, February 21, Tuscaloosa police detective Branden Culpepper, Miller did what Miller requested. Miller reportedly cooperated by giving Miles and Davis the gun. According to DailyMail, Paula Whitley, the chief deputy district attorney in Tuscaloosa, stated that no charges could be filed against Miller.
