Certain things remain the same. Former rivals Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos fight during PSG’s preseason training session in Japan. The Argentina star confronts the Spain defender after the latter’s reckless challenge in front of thousands of spectators.

After Sergio Ramos challenged him in training, Lionel Messi chastised him and began to argue with his PSG teammate.

As Christophe Galtier’s team prepares for the new 2022–23 season, the pair are now in Japan.
When they represented Barcelona and Real Madrid, respectively, they were on opposing sides of one of the most intense rivalries in all the sports.

Even though they were now on the same squad, they could not help but show that old habits are hard to break.

In a social media video, Ramos advances and tries to take the ball away from Messi before the latter can charge at him. The 35-year-old Argentine, though, seems to be aware of this and sprints past the Spain defender before being stopped by the centre-following back’s leg.

However, Messi, a former star for Barcelona, manages to maintain his balance before firing a right-footed goal into the bottom corner.

However, the Argentine didn’t forget the careless tackle and proceeded to speak with Ramos after giving him a severe look. But despite this argument between the two, the Ligue 1 winners have had a terrific preseason thus far, going undefeated this summer.

On Monday, they defeated Gamba Osaka 6-2 in a friendly, with Messi scoring PSG’s fourth goal.

The French champions, who started the preseason with a 2-0 victory over Ligue 2 team Quevilly-Rouen, also defeated the Osaka rivals Urawa Reds and Kawasaki.

It marks the beginning of Messi and Ramos’ second season in France; the duo had a difficult 2021–22 season due to injuries and poor form.

Due to a calf injury, Ramos only had 13 appearances in all competitions, and Messi only managed six league goals in 26 games.

Next year, when both contracts at Parc des Princes expire, Messi is rumoured to be considering a move back to Barcelona as well as a switch to David Beckham’s Inter Miami.
